Bernadette Peters (born Bernadette Lazzara on February 28 1948) is an American actor, singer, and children's book author born in Ozone Park Queens New York . She's had a lengthy career that spans 5 years. She has appeared in shows, made solo recordings and appeared on television. She's one of the most widely acclaimed Broadway performers. She has received nominations to seven Tony Awards, winning two and eight Drama Desk Awards winning three. Grammy Awards have been won by four Broadway productions where Peters was a part of. Peters first performed on stage in her early years, then as an actress in her teenage years during the 1960s, and later in films and television in the 1970s. Her early work, including her roles in The Muppet Show The Carol Burnett Show along with other television works and roles in movies like Silent Movie The Jerk Pennies from Heaven received a lot of praise. The actress returned to Broadway during the 1980s in which she was the most famous Broadway actor for the next thirty years. She has also released 6 solo albums as well as several singles. She has also recorded numerous cast albums. She also performs regularly in her own solo show. Peters is also a regular performer in films and on television in which she was recognized for her work with three Emmy Awards and three Golden Globe Awards winning one time.
